China's tourism turnout will reach 750 billion yuan, or 5.8
percent of the nation's GDP in five years, according to the
recently completed 10th Five-Year Plan (2001-2005) for the development
of China's tourism industry.
Currently, the
global output of tourism industry accounts for 10.7 percent
of its GDP.
If the plan is
successfully accomplished, the industry will bring into foreign
exchange earnings at US$90 billion and create job opportunities
for more than 8 million people.
