Authoritative sources revealed February 22 that Beijing is ready
to speed up construction of its Central Business District (CBD)
and position it as a key function zone to be formally listed
during the 10th Five-year Plan period.
As reported, enterprises
in the three forms of ventures, i.e. Sino-foreign joint ventures,
cooperative businesses and solely foreign-owned enterprises
have been up to over 12 thousand in Beijing. In addition,
chambers of commerce, banks and enterprises from some hundred
countries and regions have set up more than 1100 agencies
and offices here, 148 of which have had their names listed
among Global Top 500 Enterprises.
According to Beijing's
overall plan, CBD has been marked out in the central west
of Chaoyang District, Beijing. With an area of 3.99 sq. km.,
it starts from Dongdaqiaolu in the west and ends at Xidawanglu
in the east, Tonghui River, its southern border, and Chaoyanglu,
the north line. The east third Loop Road and Jianguomenwai
Street lie respectively on the south-north and east-west axes
of the square CBD.
The planned area
is known to have a fine location with various conveniences
and a full range of modern facilities as easy access of transportation
and guaranteed water, power and gas supply. Along with these
are also 2.8 million sq. m. of land to be opened up and 10
million sq. m. for modernity construction or used to a commercial
purpose.
