Ma Xiuhong, assistant minister of the Ministry of Foreign Trade
and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC), told newsmen lately at the
5th China Investment and Trade Fair in Beijing that A Directory
of Industries as a new guide to investment by foreign investors
in China is near completion. A guidebook to help foreign investors
in China from abroad, "Directory" saw its first publication
in 1987. Put out in a revised addition in 1995, it had new amendments
made in 1997 and as is needed for a new global economic situation
and new demands in the 21st century, the new "Directory"
with new revisions made will soon be made available.
According to Ma,
control on encouraged projects in China will be greatly relaxed
and as set by its 10th Five-year Plan industrial undertakings
projected will show investors a happy prospect for making
investments in China as a result of opening, reform and further
restructuring of the Chinese economy.
Ma also pointed
out that China's service sector will be greatly opened to
foreign investors and that the country will continue to improve
its "Directory" for new economic advances after
its entry of the WTO in the new century.
