Young Scientists from Both Sides of Taiwan Straits Hold Symposium

The China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) hosted Tuesday the third academic symposium of young scientists from both sides of the Taiwan Straits.

Zhou Guangzhao, chairman of the CAST, said that scientists and technologists, especially the young, should make more of a contribution to economic and social development for the country.

The CAST shoulders the responsibility of enhancing academic exchange and cooperation between both sides of the Taiwan Straits, Zhou said.

More than 60 young scientists from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan participated in the three-day symposium, focusing on life sciences, bio-engineering technology, nano science and technology and other issues.

The CAST have organized yearly academic symposiums since 1999.
