Beijing Prepares for 130 Million Visitors

In Beijing during the weeklong National Day Vacation buses, cabs the metro network are predicated to carry 130 million travelers, said the municipal traffic management bureau on Monday. The volume of people on the move will be approximately twice than usual.

 

Buses alone will carry 80 million passengers between September 30 and October 7, said the bureau. The peak of the bus transportation volume is expected to occur on October 1 with 10.63 million passengers.

 

An official with the bureau said as the Chinese traditional Mid-Autumn Festival was also during the weeklong vacation the number of travelers in the city would remain very high throughout the seven day holiday period.

 

The Beijing Bus Corporation has promised to put an additional 600 buses into operation for the very busy week to help ease the pressure.
