Chen Shui-bien's Attempt to Steal Chicken Only Ends Up in Becoming Laughingstock

Taiwan authorities have more thoroughly revealed their true color before the international community as they took advantage of the "anti-terror" opportunity to engage in doing evils.

On the occasion of the first anniversary of the "September 11" terrorist attacks on the United States, Chen Shui-bien is engaged in large-scale activities by holding meetings and publishing "statements" to create media effect. He fabricated something out of nothing and talked wildly, slandering China's mainland as "developing 'transcending limited war' method similar to the terrorist attacking means", and its "threat" to Taiwan "had even gone beyond the limit of terrorist attack".

Seeking private interests by uttering empty talks is the way Chen Shui-bien has never tired of using to play his old trick in Taiwan Island. People with slight brains can see through his intrigues at a glance, which is not worth any comments. But when he took advantage of the chance to madly spurt venom on the Chinese mainland and groundlessly labeled the mainland as "terrorism", it is necessary to lay bare his real intentions.

One of Chen Shui-bien's intentions is to distort the nature of cross-Strait relations. The practice of the development of cross-Strait ties has proved long before that the one-China principle is the foundation for the stability and development of cross-Strait relations. Taiwan authorities' words and deeds in challenging the one-China principle are the root cause of the tension on the Taiwan Straits. Chen Shui-bien's sedulous distortion of the mainland's just action of opposing separation and safeguarding the unification of China, and even lumping this action together with "terrorism" are nothing but an attempt to confound black and white and coat his unjust acts of creating "Taiwan independence" and plotting to separate Taiwan from China's territory with a layer of "legitimacy".

His another intention is to fan up on the Island a sentiment against the Chinese mainland. One of the important characteristics of terrorism is that it is aimed at ordinary people. The Chinese mainland has always looked upon Taiwan compatriots as full brothers and sisters and put work on the general public of Taiwan in the most important position and tried everything possible for peaceful reunification. Chen Shui-bien wantonly plays up the so-called "threat of force" from the mainland and cherishes the ulterior motive to mislead and intimidate Taiwan public with the infamy of "terrorism" merely for the purpose of giving twisted publicity, agitating the people and arousing hostility toward the Chinese mainland among some people who are unaware of the truth.

Chen Shui-bien also tries to equate "counter-terrorism" with "anti-communism" and "demonize" the Chinese mainland in an attempt to take advantage of the atmosphere of the international community's joint attacks on terrorism to serve as the vanguard of Western anti-China forces' "China threat theory", turning the spearhead of "counter-terrorism" against the Chinese mainland.

However, Chen Shui-bien has overestimated his own strength. It is absolutely impossible for his sinister intentions to succeed. As soon as he spurted out his remarks, there was endless voice of questioning in the Island, mass media all agreed that the means used by Taiwan authorities were too clumsy, they totally ignored the basic facts and international realities, they "not only failed in their attempt to steal a chicken", but were contrarily "laughed at by the international community", making their already ugly image even more disgusting.

Nevertheless, this "counter-terrorism" farce staged by Taiwan authorities has enabled people to see more clearly Chen Shui-bien's hostility toward the Chinese mainland, as well as his real intentions to engage in confrontation in respect to cross-Strait relations, stripping off his carefully knitted mask of "good-intention". The fact that his technique is farfetched and ridiculous and singing out of key has demonstrated that Taiwan authorities have come to the end of their rope and have used all sorts of intrigues and wiles and can play no more new tricks.
