The Tragedy of Falun Gong Practitioners
People in Hong Kong Condemn Falun Gong

People throughout Hong Kong have expressed their condemnation of the Falun Gong organization in the special administrative region, saying it should be banned.

The Head of the Central Government's Hong Kong Liaision Office said the Falun Gong organization in Hong Kong has been internationalizing and politicalizing in recent years, as well as targeting the central government. He said local residents and the media doubt whether the Falun Gong's activities conform with its original registered charter and principle.

He said the central government will not allow any organization or individual to turn Hong Kong into a center for Falun Gong activists. The central government will also not allow Hong Kong to become a base for anti-central government activities, or for activities that sabotage the One Country Two Systems policy.

NPC standing committee member, Tsang Hin-chi, said he doesn't want to see Falun Gong activists turn Hong Kong into a base against the central government, and he also opposed any foreign force or country using Falun Gong to subvert the Chinese nation.

Others said the recent international conference organized by the Falun Gong organization in Hong Kong was a political activity that sabotaged the One Country Two Systems policy, and threatened national security. They all voiced their support in banning the cult.

Local newspapers have issued editorials saying Hong Kong residents feel even more worried about the cult's activities after the immolations in Tian'anmen Square. The editorials called on the Hong Kong SAR government to shoulder responsibility and protect local residents from harm caused by the Falun Gong cult.
