Bai Enpei Re-elected Party Chief of Yunnan

Bai Enpei was re-elected secretary of southwest China's Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Thursday.

Bai was re-elected to the post at the first session of the 8th CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee held in Kunming.

Bai, born in 1946 in Qingjian County, north China's Shaanxi Province, graduated from Northwest Polytechnic University in 1970 and joined the CPC in 1973.

He served as the governor of Qinghai Province from 1998 to 1999and as secretary of the CPC Qinghai Provincial Committee from 1999to 2001.

Bai was elected secretary of the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee in 2001. He is now a member of the 16th CPC Central Committee.
