Big Indonesian Exhibition in Shanghai
Adjust font size:

An exhibition that opened to the public in Shanghai on Friday is the largest-ever Indonesian exhibition in China.

Sponsored by an Indonesian export development organization, the four-day exhibition will allow more than 80 Indonesian companies to showcase their products ranging from jewelry to coffee, said Vice-Minister of Trade Hatanto Reksodipoetro.

The official expressed a hope on behalf of his government that more Chinese enterprises will invest in Indonesia's infrastructure construction, industry and commerce, and in energy and ore.

It is the third time Indonesia has organized an exhibition in China. The first two were held in Beijing, the official said.

The closer relationship between China and Indonesia over the last few years is reflected in growing bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

Bilateral trade between the two nations reached US$12.5 billion in 2005. In the first six months this year, trade reached US$6.6 billion, a year-on-year increase of 12 percent.

The two nations signed a joint statement in April 2005, vowing to increase annual bilateral trade to US$30 billion by 2010.
