Beijing to Have 'Olympic Temple Fairs'
Adjust font size:

At present, Beijing is preparing for temple fairs during the 7-day Spring Festival (Lunar New Year) holiday, and the theme for temple fairs this year will be "Olympics".

Our reporter went to the Lotus Pool Park on February 13, where a special wall was painted for visitors to write down their wishes to the 2008 Olympic Games. Olympic decorations and traditional ones like lanterns and Spring Festival couplets or scrolls enveloped the whole park in a joyous atmosphere. The trees were also decorated with silk flowers and leaves, giving out a breath of spring there.

Pig statues were put up in the park, reminding people of the arrival of the Year of the Pig.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy good food and various wonderful shows in the temple fairs, besides enjoying the fresh Olympic elements. It is believed that the new "Olympic temple fairs" will attract more young people and inject new vigor into this old tradition.
