The spirit of the workers in the Daqing Oilfield
In early 1960, tens of thousands of workers from all over the country gathered on the Songnen Plain in northeast China, presented to support a massive campaign to tap oil that was urgently needed by the country.
The arduous task hastened the budding of a new spirit, embodied in the patriotism that encourages people to win honor for the nation, the will to act on their own initiative, the determination to be honest and strict with themselves, and the desire to keep the country’s overall interests in mind.
大庆精神
1960年初，数万名石油工人从中国四面八方来到东北的松嫩平原，展开了一场艰苦卓绝的大庆石油会战。大庆油田的开发建设铸就了大庆精神，是激励中国人民不畏艰难、勇往直前的宝贵精神财富。这一精神的主要内涵包括：为国争光、为民族争气的爱国主义精神；独立自主、自力更生的艰苦创业精神；讲求科学、“三老四严”（当老实人、说老实话、办老实事，严格的要求、严密的组织、严肃的态度、严明的纪律）的科学求实精神；胸怀全局、为国分忧的奉献精神。概括地说，大庆精神就是“爱国、创业、求实、奉献”。
