Confucius' Idea of Valuing Harmony

Confucius was an ancient Chinese philosopher and educator. The school of Confucianism he founded and the Confucian thoughts developed on this basis have had a profound impact on Chinese civilization and constituted an important part of traditional Chinese culture. 

"In conducting the rituals, the principle of harmony is the most valuable." This is a quote from The Analects of Confucius (Lun Yu), and a moral principle championed by the Confucians. It means that the ritual system was adopted to maintain harmonious social relations. The Chinese people have been valuing harmony, which is a basic principle of their philosophy of life. 

孔子与“以和为贵”

孔子是中国古代思想家、教育家,其创立的儒家学说以及在此基础上发展起来的儒家思想,对中华文明产生了深刻影响,是中国传统文化的重要组成部分。

“礼之用,和为贵”,出自《论语》,是儒家倡导的道德实践原则,意思是礼这种制度的使用,在于使得人际关系变得和谐。以和为贵体现了中国人的基本处世原则。
