Updated:2023-03-20 | By:The Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies

The Moral View of Being Kind and Amiable to Others

Being kind and amiable to others is the most basic moral standard for individuals. Amiability is a social value, and kindness is a requirement of morality. They complement and reinforce each other. Kindness is the basis and moral support of amiability, which in turn restrains and regulates kindness, being its value orientation and goal. Being kind and amiable to others indicates that one has a peaceful state of mind, and values virtues. Not only does it show the moral quality of an individual, but it is also an attitude to others and society that has long been advocated in Chinese culture, manifesting the Chinese people's pursuit of benevolence.
