ACCWS hosts closing ceremony for delegation of young leaders from Bangladesh

On Tuesday, the closing ceremony of the "Delegation of Young Leaders from Bangladesh to China 2026" program was held in Beijing. Li Yafang, deputy editor-in-chief of China International Communications Group (CICG) and president of the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies (ACCWS), attended the event and delivered a speech.

Li said that the visit of Bangladeshi youth leaders to China took place at an opportune time. She noted that China and Bangladesh have jointly announced the building of a China-Bangladesh community with a shared future in the new era, charting a new blueprint for elevating bilateral relations, and opening up broad prospects for youth exchanges between the two sides. 

She urged young people of China and Bangladesh to exchange development experience and deepen mutual learning with an open mindset, participate in shared development and pursue common progress with a sense of mission for the times, and tell the stories of China-Bangladesh friendship from the perspectives of young narrators. She said this will inject vitality and fresh momentum into China-Bangladesh ties.

Li Kaisheng, vice president of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS), said the achievements of Chinese modernization provide a new reference for other developing countries as they explore their own paths toward modernization. He said he hopes the two sides will further deepen practical cooperation in infrastructure, trade and the economy, knowledge sharing, and other areas, so as to jointly forge a China-Bangladesh community with a shared future in the new era. He also voiced anticipation that young people from both countries join hands to carry forward the bilateral friendship and sustain its lasting vitality.

Aga Mostafizur Rahman Chowdhury, head of the visiting delegation and a young faculty member at the University of Dhaka, said that he looks forward to deepening youth exchanges and think tank cooperation, contributing youthful strength to the long-standing China-Bangladesh friendship.

Members of the delegation shared their takeaways from the trip, saying that over the 10-day visit, they learned about China's development and felt the warmth and friendliness of the Chinese people. China's progress in advancing modernization, preserving historical and cultural heritage, pursuing green and low-carbon growth, and boosting scientific and technological innovation resonated deeply with the group. 

The participants said the visit has stoked their eagerness to study and learn from China's experience in pursuing modernization, while further reinforcing their confidence in and aspirations for deeper cooperation between the two countries.

During their stay in Beijing, the delegation was invited to observe a regular press conference held by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They also visited China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, the PowerChina Science and Technology Innovation Industrial Park, and leading clean energy enterprises, and conducted themed study tours at the Palace Museum. The delegation also visited Kunming of Yunnan province, as well as Shanghai.

The "Delegation of Young Leaders from Bangladesh to China 2026" program was co-hosted by ACCWS, SIIS, and the Centre for China Studies at the University of Dhaka.
