The Miao people in Shidong Town, Guizhou Province celebrated their Dragon-canoe Festival on July 9, 2007 with a grand dragon-canoe race. The dragon-canoes are made out of firs. This traditional festival of the Miao people is meant to pray for fine weather and bumper harvest.
