A historical grand wedding ceremony of China's ancient Han princess Liu Xijun and the King of Wusun was vividly reproduced by actors in Balikun Autonomous County in northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Automous Region on Saturday.

This is to commemorate the great marriage in history that helped keep the ancient Chinese Han Dynasty closer with its border regions in the northwest.

About 1, 000 actors joined the whole process of the wedding ceremony, which attracted over 10, 000 tourists and local inhabitants, China News Service reported.

Wusun was an ancient Chinese kingdom located on the northeastern section of the Tianshan Mountain range, in the northeastern part of today's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. About 2, 000 years ago, two beautiful princesses from the Chinese Han Dynasty (206 B.C – 200 A.D.) were married successively to Wusun kings for the sake of the then national unity.
