Led by the world's top two shuttlers Zhang Ning and Xie Xingfang as well as debutant Jiang Yanjiao, China powered to a 3-0 victory over the Netherlands in Tokyo on May 6 to claim the 2006 Uber Cup badminton championships for the fifth straight time. China won their sixth title on May 7, beating Denmark 3-0 in the final of the 2006 Thomas Cup badminton championships.
