Lesson Fifty Do you like snacks?
There is a wide variety of Chinese snack food. Everybody can find something here to satisfy his or her appetite. But in China it's better to sample traditional Chinese snack food, not Chinese imitations of foreign snacks. See how Lili introduces Chinese snacks to Mike.
Lì li: Nǐ xǐ huān chī líng shí ma
丽丽: 你喜欢吃零食吗?
Lili:

Do you like snacks?

Mài kè: Shì de, wǒ fēi cháng xǐ huān.
麦克: 是的,我非常喜欢。
Mike: Yes, I do.
Lì li: Nǐ zuì xǐ huān shén me líng shí?
丽丽: 你最喜欢什么零食?
Lili: What snack do you like best?
Mài kè: Bào mǐ huār. Zài měi guó, rèn hé shí hòu dào diàn yǐng yuàn wǒ dōu huì măi bào mǐ huār hé kě lè.
麦克: 爆米花。在美国,任何时候到电影院我都会买爆米花和可乐。
Mike: Popcorn. I buy popcorn and coke whenever I go to the cinema in the States.
Lì li: Xiàn zài zhōng guó de hěn duō diàn yǐng yuàn yě chū shòu zhè lèi líng shí hé yǐn liào.
丽丽: 现在中国的很多电影院也出售这类零食和饮料。
Li li: Nowadays many cinemas in China sell this kind of snack and beverage.
Mài kè: Wǒ tōng cháng xǐ huān zài měi dùn fàn zhōng jiān chī diănr líng shí.
麦克: 我通常喜欢在每顿饭中间吃点零食。
Mike: I usually like to eat some snacks between meals.
Lì li: Wǒ yě shì, bǐ rú bǐng gān, jiān guǒ, qiăo kè lì děng děng.
丽丽: 我也是,比如饼干、坚果、巧克力等等。
Lili: So do I. Snacks like cookies, nuts, and chocolate.
Mài kè: Wǒ hái xǐ huān chī bīng qí lín, yóu qí shì căo méi wèir hé xiāng căo wèir de.
麦克: 我还喜欢吃冰淇淋,尤其是草莓味和香草味的。
Mike: I like ice cream, too, especially strawberry or vanilla flavored.
Lì li: Nĭ xĭ huān nă zhǒng zhōng guó líng shí?
丽丽: 你喜欢哪种中国零食?
Lili: What kind of Chinese snack do you like?
Mài kè: Tài duō le. Wǒ zuì xǐ huān chī xīn jiāng pú tao gānr, niú ròu gānr hé fēng wèir diăn xīn.
麦克: 太多了。我最喜欢吃新疆葡萄干、牛肉干和风味点心。
Mike: So many! I like Xijiang raisins, beef jerky, and local pastries.
Li li: Zhōu mò ni dào wǒ jiā lái ba. Wǒ zhǔn bèi zuò xiē shàng hăi fēng wèir diăn xīn.
丽丽 周末你到我家来吧,我准备做些上海风味点心。
Lili: Come to my home during the weekend then, because I will make some Shanghai-flavor pastries.
Mài kè: Xiè xie. Wǒ zhēn yǒu kǒu fú!
麦克: 谢谢。我真有口福!
Mike: Thanks. What a lucky gourmet I am!
