Execution of Saddam Hussein

Amidst the backdrop of daily violence and body counts in Iraq, Saddam Hussein has been executed by Iraq's new government. Will his death in any way help Iraq beyond giving closure to the families of his victims or will it only serve to edge the country closer to civil war?
