The China Film Museum will open to the public on Thursday in honor of the centennial of Chinese motion pictures.

The museum, designed by RTKL International and the Beijing Institute of Architectural Design at a cost of 550 million yuan (about US$69 million), is located in the northeastern part of Beijing and covers a space of nearly 2.5 hectares.

Film posters and logos will be exhibited in a total of 21 exhibition halls, including more than 1500 films and 4000 pictures, said Zhao Dongming, director of the museum.

The museum will screen newly released films at lower than market prices on the allowance of distributors, he said.
