Chen Kaige to Sue Video Maker
Adjust font size:

Chinese director Chen Kaige has decided to sue an online DV maker for distorting his work The Promise.

Previously a short video themed on Chen Kaige's The Promise proved immensely popular on the Internet. The DV maker, Hu Ge, used materials from the film but came up with a totally different storyline which makes fun of the film.

Talking to web portal Sina in Berlin, director Chen expressed strong indignation by saying the author has lost his basic moral standard. He also says his lawyer is preparing to sue Hu Ge for copyright infringement.

On the other side, Hu Ge was quoted as saying that he has great respect for Chen, and the reason he made the video is purely to practice his skills in digital editing. He hopes the director wouldn't sue him.
