Andrew Lau to Cooperate with Tony Leung Again
Adjust font size:

Hong Kong director Andrew Lau is in Beijing to promote his latest film Daisy, expected to open at the end of this month.

He is quoted as saying "All films express human beings' feelings - what differs is only that they are made by different companies," hoping to ensure that Chinese audiences will understand his new South Korean film.

The movie Daisy is a cross-border mega-budget movie, with big name South Korean stars like Jeon Ji Hyun and Woo-sung Jung.

Having directed many renowned movies such as Infernal Affairs and Initial D, Andrew Lau was especially invited to direct the new South Korean film.

Talking about the new work, he stresses it is a romantic but melancholy love tragedy. He is quoted as saying, "Daisy means the love hidden deep in the heart. The lead characters suffer a lot as they cannot vocalize their affections. "

He also reveals he will again cooperate with veteran actor Tony Leung in a detective movie this June. They had previously cooperated in the movie Infernal Affairs as well as its sequel. Next year he will turn to direct another big martial arts movie to fulfill a personal dream.

His movie Initial D has received four big awards at the just concluded Hong Kong Film Awards, but it is remains unknown as to whether there will be a sequel.

According to Lau, he wouldn't make a sequel just for the money. It seems interest in a sequel may be out of the question, unless he comes up with a new vision for its filming.
