The Departed, the Hollywood remake of Infernal Affairs, hit cinemas during the weeklong National Day holiday.

Lau said The Departed was too long and it felt as if Hollywood had combined all three parts of Infernal Affairs. He joked that the makers of The Departed owe the makers of Infernal Affairs because they only paid for the copyright of one movie.

When asked if he found the Hollywood remake disappointing, Lau replied: "No, I don't. It was all right to watch and the actors were pretty good." He pointed out that the remake featured some of the original's golden quotes but did have much more foul language.

However, Lau rated The Departed eight out of 10 and said that the Hollywood remake is worth a view. "What I dislike the most in the movie is how they made Kelly Chen and Sammi Cheng's characters into one. I don't think that the two male characters would fall in love with the same female."
