Third Cross-Straits Forum: A Compass for the Future



The Third Cross-Straits Economic and Cultural Forum closed in Beijing yesterday. The forum gathered representatives from Taiwan and the mainland to discuss issues related to direct flights, education, and tourism across the Taiwan Straits.

To take a closer look at the direction and influence of the Third Cross-Straits Economic and Cultural Forum, we are joined here by Mr. Xu Shiquan, Chinese mainland expert on Taiwan issues and Mr. Charles H. C. Kao, Ph. D. , Founder and CEO of Global Views Monthly and Commonwealth Publishing Company.

Chinese mainland expert on Taiwan issues. Executive Vice President of the National Society of Taiwan Studies. He graduated in International Journalism from the University of International Relations in 1964. From 1967 to 1996, he worked as Xinhua correspondent in Tanzania , Guangming Daily correspondent and bureau chief in Lebanon and UK , and People's Daily bureau chief in the United Nations. In 1996, he took the post as president of the CASS Institute of Taiwan Studies.

Gao Xijun (Charles H. C. Kao, Ph. D.)



Founder and CEO of Global Views Monthly and Commonwealth Publishing Company. Board Chairman of the Institute of Knowledge Economy and Management. He graduated from Michigan State University in 1964.
