Adjust font size:

A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Friday called for the implementation of a comprehensive evaluation system that would prevent corrupt officials from being promoted.

He Yong, deputy secretary of the CPC's Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), said the system must be implemented earnestly, and corrupt officials will be prohibited from being promoted.

He made the remarks at a meeting on the implementation of guidelines on corruption punishment and prevention.

The central departments shall take the lead in implementing the guidelines, he said, calling for more severe and systematic crackdown on corruption.

The official urged related departments to speed up the institution of rules punishing civil servants and to strengthen the supervision over party members.

He also called for improvement to the public finance system and government investment system to prevent corruption.
