While meeting with Viktor Ishayev, governor of the Khabarovsk Region of Russia, Wu spoke highly of the important role the far eastern region has played in promoting trade exchanges, and highlighted sound China-Russia cooperation in energy, investment and high-tech.

"The cooperation between localities of the two countries has become a driving force for bilateral ties," said Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.

Wu urged Khabarovsk and provinces in China to explore new channels and ways for cooperation.

Khabarovsk is ready to further cooperation with neighboring Chinese provinces in areas such as trade energy, said Ishayev.
