Adjust font size:

Liu Yunshan, head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met with a Philippine press delegation in Beijing Wednesday, vowing to strengthen cooperation between the press of the two countries.

Chinese and Philippine publicity departments signed a letter of intent on friendly exchanges and cooperation in 2004.

Liu, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said the letter of intent will play an active role in promoting the press exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, and making comprehensive and objective reports on each other.

He said bilateral press exchanges and cooperation will also promote the understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

Ignacio Bunye, Philippine Secretary of Press and head of the delegation, said the Philippine press department will make more efforts to push forward the press cooperation with China, and encourage the Philippine media to actively cover the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

The delegation, at the invitation of the Information Office of the State Council, is visiting China from November 28 to December 2.
