French poems and literary masterpieces will enlighten the China-France Cultural Season, an annual exchange event that will fall on April 12 in Beijing this year, sources with the French Embassy to China said Saturday.

During the two-month event, Chinese people amoured with the French language and culture can attend a performance of the Little Prince and readings of the works of famous French poets. "The activities are those with a strong interest in the French language," said a French embassy official. He noted that with the improvement of China-France ties, especially since the two countries jointly held China-France Culture Year, Chinese young people have become increasingly interested in French literature and films.

The embassy official said, the China-France Culture Season will be held in Shanghai, Dalian, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Wuhan, and will include visual arts, jazz, classical music, opera, dance and films.
