Progress has been made in the laying of sand on the 10,000-square-meter space of Chaoyang Park Beach Volleyball Ground and the second batch of 7,000 tons of sand will come one week later, the organizers said.

The work began on July 11 and the 10,000 tons of sand are expected to be used up in three days. The main competition ground and two exercise grounds have been completed. Canadian expert Todd Knapton has been satisfied with the tempo and quality of the work.

Produced in Dongfang City (Hainan Province), the sand was found suitable by the International Volleyball Federation for the 2007 FIVB Beach Volleyball Women's Challenger scheduled for August 13-19, 2007, a test event for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
