China's Food Exceeding Quota Rate Lower than US and the Netherlands

Recently, AERA of Japan's Asahi Shimbun issued an article that ranked the safety of food that is exported to Japan. The list shows that the United States, the Netherlands, Italy, Australia and so on have higher exceeding quota rates of unhealthy elements than China (only Chinese mainland).

China ranks 23rd among the listed 37 countries and regions with a rate of 0.58 percent, much better than the United States which ranks 11th with a rate of 1.31 percent. According to the article, the public keeps away from Chinese food for fear of safety problems, but actually on the whole Chinese food is quite safe. Safety problems also exist in food imported from developed countries like the United States.

The article says that it's foolish to believe that not to eat Chinese food can ensure them safety. The article says, although reports in the past have convince many people that Chinese food has a high exceeding quota rate of unhealthy elements, this is not the case. The list was made in accordance with the application number and quota-exceeding rate, based on food control statistics issued by Japan's Ministry of Health, Welfare and Labor in 2006. The result shows that although China is responsible for the most numerous quota-exceeding cases, 530, with the United States ranking second, responsible for 239 cases, in terms of quota-exceeding rate, China ranks 23rd while the United Stats ranks the 11th.
