Chinese Leave Footprints on K2 Summit

Four Chinese mountaineers have climbed into immortality by conquering the Chogori peak, one of the highest mountains in the world, only second to the Mount Everest.

The climbers achieved their goal Tuesday morning. It's the first time that Chinese mountaineers have got to the 8611- meter-high summit and the third team in the world that has reached the peak since the first success 50 years ago.

In the year of 2000 and 2002, Chinese climbers made two attempts, but were frustrated by heavy snowstorm.
