Shanghai Sharks star Liu Wei says he has dealt with all necessary procedures for going to the United States to join the Sacramento Kings for training.
He says he will take the training camp as an opportunity to learn from NBA players and a test of his abilities.
Liu Wei is expected to appear on the floor of the NBA pre-season match between the Sacramento Kings and Houston Rockets in Shanghai and Beijing and play against his former Sharks and national team mate Yao Ming.
Liu Wei's agent Sha Yifeng says he has arranged a training session at a basketball academy in Portland for Liu Wei before the NBA training camp begins.
Sha Yifeng was in charge of the promotion of the first batch of Chinese basketball stars like Wang Zhizhi, the first Chinese player in the NBA, and one of China's top guards Hu Weidong.
Sha Yifeng admits that there is a slight chance for Liu Wei to sign an NBA contract but speculates it may not be for the next two or three years.
