China Day in Denmark Badminton

China showed their strength in Badminton again at the Denmark Open, as Chinese players took the mixed doubles title and have taken up all the places in the men's singles and women doubles finals.

In the mixed doubles final, fourth-seeded Chinese Chen Qiqiu and Zhao Tingting downed Athens Olympics runners-up, the British duo of Gail Emms and Nathan Robertson. This is the first time the Chinese pair has beaten the current world number one this year.

The competition between Denmark and China in the men's singles semifinals was a red wash with two Chinese winners. Top seed Lin Dan eased into the final as his counterpart dropped out before the end because of an injury. Xia Xuanze struggled but managed to advance after a hard victory over top Dane Peter Gade.

The women's doubles title will be coming to China no matter what, as Chinese players eliminated the only foreign couple left in the semis.

The women's singles remains an international contest though: Xie Xingfang meets Dutch-Chinese Yao Jie in that final.
