China Open 4th Day

Yesterday was the fourth day of the badminton China Open in Guangzhou, with two Chinese through to the men's semi's and women double players holding the title in advance.

Defending champion Lin Dan overcame team-mate Chen Hong in straight sets and Bao Chunlai nailed another Chinese Chen Jin with the same score, China Radio International reported on Saturday.

Indonesian Hidayat Taufik and Danish veteran Kenneth Jonassen both won semi-finals.

In mixed double competitions, Chen Qiqiu and Zhan Tingting advanced into the final after holding off their Indonesian counterparts 2-1 in a tough 75-minute match.

Chinese women double players showed skill by locking the title in advance and grabbing all sets in the last four.

However, the hosts plans of taking the women single title may be under threat with Xie Xingfang as their only hope.

Chinese men's doubles had to face a similar problem with Sang Yang and Zheng Bo the only players in the semi-finals.
