China Aims at World Group I at Fed Cup

Chinese tennis players have set their eyes on Fed Cup World Group I after their victory at the Group II.

Head coach Jiang Hongwei says China has the strength to reach the Group I. China boasts Li Na, world 42 and Peng Shuai 47, as well as Zhen Jie 75. In the doubles event, Olympic champions Sun Tiantian and Li Ting stand at 43 and 44 respectively. Such a strong squad can ensure further strides in Fed Cup, the world's highest team competition.

Jiang disclosed that he will field in a new lineup next year. Some bench players will join the national team in their latest training.

The team will then embark on a series of warm-up tournaments leading to the US Open.
