Chinese tennis player Yan Zi failed to make it to the quarter-finals at Modena, Italy, after falling victim to Croatian Sanda Mamic.   
 
Yan lost the game 4-6, 7-5, 3-6.

In the quarter-finals, Mamic will play Italian Tathiana Garbin who upset Number 6 seed Jelena Kostanic.
