Chinese player Peng Shuai rises significantly up to 32 in the newly released WTA rankings.

The teenager surpasses Li Na's previous record of 33, becoming the number one Chinese player in the international rankings.

In the Acura Classis WTA tournament, Peng Shuai defeated Elena Dementieva, Dinara Safina and Kim Clijsters consecutively to reach the semi-final.

The 19-year-old failed to snatch her first WTA title after losing to Mary Pierce of France.

American veteran Lindsay Davenport still takes the first place, followed by Russian Maria Sharapova. Chinese Li Na ranks 43rd and Zheng Jie 76th.
