China's Li Na and Zheng Jie have both cruised into the third round of the Rogers Cup to face top seeds Henin-Hardenne and Petrova.

Qualifier Zheng Jie defeated Japanese veteran, Ai Sugiyama who seeded 17, in three sets: 2-6, 7-6 and 6-3.

Zheng will next take on former world number one, 4th seed, Justine Henin-Hardenne who easily ousted Mariana Diaz-Olivawho 6-1, 6-3.

Meanwhile, Li Na beat Maria Vento-Kabchi who lost to China's Peng Shuai at last week's JP Morgan Open.

Li Na won the match 6-4, 6-7, 6-2 in two hours 22 minutes. She will next face 6th seed Nadia Petrova. The two had a fierce encounter in Australia in January when top-seeded Petrova defeated Li Na 7-5, 6-3. Petrova then withdrew from the tournament due to injury.
