Qi Hui of the Chinese Army won her second gold medal at the 10th National Games after touching home first in the women's 200m individual medley in two minutes and 12.17 seconds on Sunday.
Qi, who nabbed the 400m medley title three days ago, established her lead only in the third leg with her gifted breaststroke and held on to touch the wall first.
"I got my best time in 200m medley too, just like I did in 400mmedley, so I am quite satisfied with the result," said the 20-year-old Qi, who broke women's 200m breaststroke world records twice in 2001 and 2002.
"I was confident of winning the gold, so it's not a surprise for me," added Qi, in hand 14 titles of World Cup short course series from 1999 on.
Zhang Xin from Shandong had to settle with a silver in 2:12.83 while Deng Biying from Hubei third in 2:15.14.
"I got a good mentality in the events. I did not plan to win a gold here in spite of being close of making it," said 17-year-old Zhang. "I got good training, which is helpful for me to keep my mind calm and hold my confidence in races."
