Jiangsu Wins Second Match in National Games Women's Hockey

Lone goal from Yu Shuzhen help Jiangsu defeat Zhejiang 1-0 in a Group A match of the women's hockey tournament at the 10th National Games on Sunday.

After the scoreless first half, Yu, 38, converted a penalty corner into a goal at the 13th minute in the second to seal the win.

Host's team Korean coach spoke high of Yu Shuzhen's performance, saying, "Yu has been an inspiration to the team both on the field and in daily life to all younger players of my team."

He said a second victory enhanced their confidence to achieve breakthrough at the National Games.

Yu Shuzhen said," I have played twenty-years in the sport, I love field hockey too much to think about retirement."

Also in Group A, Sichuan defeated Chongqing 2-0 through two field goals at 24th and 27th minute of the first half. Guangdong, bronze medalists in last National Games, edged Beijing 1-0 through a goal scored by He Haiying, a promising member in the national team.

In Group B, top champion contender Liaoning defeat Gansu 2-0 through captain Ma Yibo, who converted a penalty corner to a score five minutes into the second half and scored a penalty shot eight minutes later.

Shanghai trounced Tianjing 8-0 by netting four field goals and converting four penalty corners into scores.
