Goals from Brazilian strikers Gilson and Vicente gave Wuhan Huanghelou a 2-0 win over Shenzhen Jianlibao in Saturday's CSL Cup final return leg. Wuhan lift the trophy with an aggregate 3-1 victory.
At Wuhan Sports Centre Stadium Gilson gave Wuhan the lead on 66 minutes with a header from Zhou Yi's cross then two minutes later raced down the right then centred for Vicente to head in off the woodwork.
Wuhan lift the second and last edition of the CSL Cup (the CFA has decided to cancel the competition from next season) with a 3-1 aggregate victory after last weekend's 1-1 draw in Shenzhen.
The trophy is the perfect ending to a dream season for Wuhan, who on their return to the top flight were never below sixth position thanks to a run of eight consecutive China Super League wins early on.
In contrast last year's CSL winners and beaten CSL Cup finalists Shenzhen, who reached the semi-finals of the Asian Champions League in 2005, end the season without a trophy.
China FA Cup holders Shandong Luneng take on Dalian Shide in the other domestic cup final tomorrow. Luneng will be without disqualified pair Zheng Zhi and Predrag Pazin for the one-legged final they must win to gain entry to the 2006 Asian Champions League. A Dalian victory would see Shanghai Shenhua qualify for the continental competition as China Super League runners-up.
