Zhao Benshan, China's most famous comedian who became chairman of Liaoning club last June, said that he's considering leaving the club due to deep dissatisfaction toward the country's football industry.
Zhao first disclosed his desire to leave the club to the fans on Sunday. He repeated his plan on Tuesday that he had been mired by his experience as chairman of the club for the past six months.
"Looking back at the past six months, I found Liaoning football club in disorder both in its ownership and management. Though I have been the chairman for six months, I don't even know who is the real boss of the club. I am afraid it will not end well for me if I remain the chairman, " said Zhao in an interview on Tuesday.
However, Zhao said he still needs some time before making his final decision. "Whether I leave the club or not depends on my capability to help the team and how I can help it. I need to consider it thoroughly. Let's wait a few more days and there will be an outcome."
In response to Zhao's remarks, Zhang Shuguang, executive chairman of the Liaoning club, said the club needs Zhao and wants him to stay.
Zhang said that there is no personal conflicts between Zhao andany member in the club, and all the team members hope Zhao can stay. The club also supports Zhao to get more involved in team management.
Zhang said that Zhao does not have to give his money to the club and what the club wants is Zhao's influence in the country, which can help to promote the team.
But without Zhao, it will be very difficult for the money-strapped club to raise more funds.
