China will try to win 15 or 16 gold medals from track and field in next year's Asian Games to be held in Doha, Qatar, a top official said in Beijing on Wednesday.

Feng Shuyong, head coach of the Chinese national team, said: "Our goal is to win 15 to 16 goals, which will be one more than wegot from the Busan Asian Games in 2002."

He said that China is still Asia's number one track and field power but they are facing more threat from Japan and west Asian countries.
