Chinese athletes failed to win a medal in the women's 1,000m speed skating event at the Turin Winter Olympics on Sunday.
Veteran skater Wang Manli, the silver medalist in the 500m event on Tuesday, placed a distant 20th in a time of 1:17.90. Her compatriot Wang Beixing was 29th.
Chinese youngster, Ren Hui, who captured a shock bronze medal in the 500m, veered off the lane halfway through the race and did not finish.
Dutchwoman Marianne Timmer clocked a time of one minute 16.05 seconds to win the gold medal at the event.
