A picture exhibit promoting the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games opened in Shanghai on Wednesday.

The pictures provide a general historical overview of the Special Games, as well as detailing the Chinese government's preparation for the games that are to kick off on October 2 this year.

It's the first time the Games have been held in an Asian country.

Works created by intellectually disabled people are also on display, offering visitors a window into the life of this special group of individuals.
