2 Chinese boxers roar into finals at Military Worlds
Adjust font size:

Two Chinese boxers advanced into finals at the 4th Military World Games in Hyderabad on Friday.

Gao Liang knocked out Russian giant Sergey Kozakov with an overwhelming result of 20-5 in the 48kg category, followed by teammate Gao Linzhi in 51kg who eliminated local favorite Hir H. k. Belival in 15-7.

Gao Liang took the lead 7-2 from the first bout and punched his way past a hapless Kozakov to the end.

Gao said: "He was not that strong as he looked. I controlled the pace well and did some heavy hits in the third bout, which gave me confidence to make more punches."

Under the roaring cheering of audience, Indian hopeful Belival made some positive moves to nip three points in the first two bouts. However, it was the Chinese who control the whole arena.

Gao Linzhi, who apparently was more skillful and has more experience in the arena, dashes out several heavy hits in the third bout to gain enough points for the win.

"The Indian boxer played at home, the audience give us some pressure, but I have confidence on my players." said Tan Min, the coach of Chinese boxing team.
