Lin Yue, bronze medalist of the 10-meter platform in the 2007 World Championships, clinched the title of the event at the Chinese Olympic diving trial in Jinan, East China on Thursday.

Lin, winner of the 2007 National Championships, surpassed Zhou Lvxin in the sixth round to win the gold at 545.50 points.

"I competed in many important events last year," said Lin. "I improved myself on mental stability during the match. I just took it as a training session and performed my best."

Zhou, who made four excellent dives in the first four rounds and kept taking the lead, failed to perform well in his last two dives.

Zhou, representing the Chinese navy, took the silver at 545.35, 0.15 points behind Lin.

Zhang Hao of Hebei Province finished third at 536.50.

Meanwhile, Wang Hao of Tianjin claimed the gold of the women's 10-meter platform at the Chinese Olympic diving trial.

Wang showed some of her talent during the match that she was never challenged by her opponents in the final. Her winning mark was 435.60 points.

"My performance was quite stable today," said Wang. "I really want to dive at the Olympic Games."

Wang Xin, also from Tianjin, winner of the event in the Melbourne World Championships and the Doha Asian Games, surpassed Chen Ruolin of Jiangsu Province in the last round to take the silver at 425.25.

"I competed in lots of games last year and I learned a lot from them," said the world champion. "I hope that I can compete in the Olympics in Beijing, and I'll try my best to get the chance."

Chen Ruolin, silver medalist in the event in the Melbourne World Championships and the Doha Asian Games, trailed at 424.65.
