Home favorite Lee Chong Wei recovered from a second-game lapse to beat South Korea's Lee Hyun-ii 21-15, 11-21, 21-17 in the men's singles final of the Malaysia Open Super Series yesterday in Kuala Lumpur.

The top-seeded Malaysian possessed too much power and variety of strokes for his left-handed opponent, although victory was by no means easy with the Korean making all the plays in the second game.

Malaysia's Lee regained his composure to dominate the decider and completed victory in 62 minutes for a fourth Malaysian Open title, adding to his three straight triumphs from 2004.

The Malaysian also took the lead in his career head-to-head record against the Korean, winning for the fifth time against four defeats.

Earlier, Denmark's Tine Rasmussen stunned China's world champion and number three seed Zhu Lin 18-21, 21-19, 21-18 to take the women's singles title.

Rasmussen was just two points from defeat in the second game but reeled off five points in a row against the defending champion to level the match at 1-1.

The Dane then seized control of the match by going 9-2 ahead in the decider.

Still, Rasmussen needed a time-out at 14-12 to attend to an injured ankle.
