Russia will be ready on time for the Winter Olympic Games 2014 in its Black Sea resort Sochi, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov said in Moscow on Monday.
Some 200 Olympic facilities including roads and electricity grids are planned to be built and most of them will be ready in 2013, said Zhukov, "We will be commissioning Olympic sites starting from next year."
The facilities include a central stadium, an ice palace, a mountain skiing center, ski ramps, an indoor skating rink, a bobsleigh track, a curling arena, a freestyle center and a snowboard park.
"We should start training right now if we want to be victorious in the Games 2014. Thus, we need many coaches to train our children," Zhukov said.
Russian government has approved a program for the construction of Olympic facilities in Sochi, which won the bidding and become host city of the Games last summer.
Almost 156 billion rubles (6.37 billion U.S. dollars) will be invested in the State Olympic Corporation, OlympStroy, in 2008-2014.
Experts estimate that the economic effect of the Sochi Olympiad could reach 341 billion rubles (around 13.93 billion U.S. dollars).
