Elevator Toilets Set up in England's Surfing Capital
Adjust font size:

Southwest England's tourist resort Newquay in Cornwall set up three public toilets with elevator systems on Thursday.

Known as the surfing capital of England, Newquay has a combination of superb sandy beaches and great surfing conditions.

The city's nightlife is spectacular. Pubs stay open late into night. But the city is troubled by uncivil drunkards, who relieve themselves everywhere. The stench is unbearable to local residents and the local government is embarrassed.

Three new toilets set up in the major night life area near the sea are expected to solve the problem. These toilets hide themsevles underground during the daytime and are raised at dusk for tourists who go out at night. The toilets are equipped with an automatic washing system and connected to the city's sewage drainage system. At sunrise, the toilets will are lowered to stay out of view.

"We hope Newquay is a clean city, not one in which young people pee as they wish. We must tackle this problem and let the city continue to benefit from its energetic nightlife,"

said a city alderman.
